An air of suspicion is reigning among the members in the Imo State House of Assembly.
The discomfort according to Trumpeta findings cannot be disassociated from the issue of who gets what as Committee Chairman and Member.
It was learnt that the Speaker, Rt Hon Chiji Collins is already under pressure arising from interest of the old members and the new ones who want special and juicy committees as chairmen.
Trouble was said to have sparked off when the law for principal positions was relaxed to allow for a non ranking member to take principal office positions except that of the Speaker. Some of the ranking members also frowned against it thereby pitching the few two timers against the fresh ones.
Apart from the Speaker, Chiji, Lawman Duruji, Arthur Egwim, Kennedy Ibeh, Uju Onwudiwe and Ngozi Obiefule, the rest are new comers.
Only on Tuesday, one of the new lawmakers used unfriendly words to address one of the ranking members thereby fuelling bad blood in the assembly.
Further information has it that the new trouble is about who gets what in terms of committees as the Speaker plans to raise the House Committees.
It was learnt that most of the new ones are angling for juicy committees while the ranking ones claim they are entitled to it.
Speaker Chiji also said to be in dilemma over the development.
