Suspended Chairmen Lose Authority To LGA Funds .5 Man TC Committee To Take Over Councils

A subtle plan to remove chairmen and councilors from having control of the LGA funds have been perfected by the Emeka Ihedioha government, reports Trumpeta.

The newspaper gathered that following the suspension of the council chairmen, their vice and councilor and directive to handover reins of office to Director of Administration and General Services, DAGS, the state government has changed the seal for the accounts of the 27 LGAs.

Trumpeta was informed that the office of the secretary to the state government perfected the strategy by allegedly working with banks to change the seal and account signatures.

Our reporter observed that the suspended chairmen left to Abuja for the inauguration of the national assembly and returned from their journey on Thursday morning only to hear that they can no longer access the funds of their LGAs.

Investigation revealed that Hon Uche Onyeagocha the secretary to the state government has directed DAGS to take over the seals, he insisted that the suspended chairmen are not in power any lobger therefore, the should not be allowed to function as officials of the local government area. Onyeagocha warned the chairmen, Vice and suspended council to stay clear to avoid trouble as security operatives will not hesitate to arrest any of them that parade him or herself as government official.

Information further revealed that the new governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has concluded plan to set up transition committee that will handle the local government administration from now till December when the fresh council polls will be conducted in Imo State.

It was further gathered that a five-man committee for each of the LGAs have been listed and will be made public soonest.

This development made the suspended chairmen and councilors to raise eye brows and agreed to go to court to seek redress without delay.

The immediate past Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has earlier told the chairmen and councilors to resist any attempt to push them out of power.
