Jubilation, As Ihedioha Pays Full Salaries To Imo Workers .Visits Ekeukwu Market, Opens Douglas Rd ..Doctors Call Off Strike

Civil servants in Imo State have burst into happy mood following the decision of the state governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha to return their salary to 100 per cent.

It would be recalled that a reasonable time the former governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha was in power, workers in the state received a deducted per cent of their salaries same as the pensioners who also got 40%.

Ihedioha brought smiles on the faces of the workers when he told striking workers of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, to return back to work promising to pay 100%.

Despite provision of bailout fund to make up for workers salaries when state governments faced challenges, Okorocha caused labour leaders in the state to accept 70% of their salaries.

But making the revelation to pay 100%, Ihedioha said that from May workers in the state would received their full salaries and not half from May.

Based on the promise including a promise to pay their outstanding three months, the doctors agreed to call off their strike to give the new governor a chance.

The news of the full salaries has brought joy as workers express happiness over the new development.

According to a section of the workers who spoke to Trumpeta, the decision of Ihedioha is a welcome development and justifies the reason why the masses chose him during the 2019 governorship election.

“That’s what we expect from the new governor, a full payment than half payment the former governor paid us” one of those interviewed offered.
