Appointees of the former governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, in his Rescue Mission administration who served in various capacity are living in fear as their problems multiply daily after leaving offices.
Those who served as commissioners are not at rest since the news of plans by the Imo House of Assembly to probe them by inviting the EFCC.
The worst hit among those expressing discomfort are two women, Hon (Mrs) Josphine Udorji and Mrs Ugochi Nnanna Okoro, alleged to have been having sleepless night over a possible invitation to come and explain how they handled major road projects and zero pothole job in Imo State as well as funds of state. While Udorji was incharge of works ministry Okoro took charge of finance. The works commissioner was said to have been at the centre of the road contract job in Ideato and Okigwe where Imo State Government under the Rescue Mission government spent billions of naira,
One of the road contract jobs she was said to handled in her home LGA, Ideato North, worth billions of naira is said to be raising dust and marred in controversy. She was also alleged to have not handled the zero pothole job very well since she came on board as commissioner. This development it is gathered has made her to develop fear. Same condition can also be said of Nnanna-Okoro who was in charge of how money flowed in and out during Okorocha’s tenure.
Another commissioner said to be shivering because of the probe is Prof Mrs Florence Emenalo incharge of Education (Basic).
The issue of Adult education programme somehow affected her as it was learnt. The alleged fraud that took place in that adult education programme may affect the female professor as she has to panic over the probe.
Other commissioners that sensed danger are now on the run for fear of prosecution, coupled with the fact that Imo House of Assembly has invited EFCC to come over and investigate what transpired. One of them is the former commissioner of Transport, Prince Lasbrey Okafor Anyanwu who has been having running battles with ITC workers Allegations leveled against him by the workers are up for investigation even as he was said to have visited EFCC to another charges bothering on financial transactions.
In a related development those appointees of Okorocha who took away their official vehicles have changed the colours and plate numbers in order to prevent the new governor’s taskforce on the recovery of government vehicles from identifying them.
It could be recalled that the governor Emeka Ihedioha few days in a public function vowed to involved security agencies in probing past leaders as well recover all the stolen properties in their possession.
Imo Assembly in their last session gave indication of a probe of the activities the past officials who worked with Okorocha while giving the new governor a mandate to use anti graft agencies to know what transpired with funds of the state.
