In what could be described as a move to seek the help of the powers that be against a cloudy future, immediate past governor of Imo State has rushed to meet with President Muhamadu Buhari
All has not been well for Okorocha since 2019 election who not only failed to produce a successor but also had his Certificate of Return witheld by INEC.
Few days after leaving office, Okorocha was also handed a 24 hour ultimatum by the Governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha to present his handover documents even as there were strong indications that anti graft agencies like the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC is doing undercover investigation against him.
Trumpeta learnt that Okorocha paid a surprise visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock, close observers in the seat of power suspect is not unconnected to the travails troubling the former governor.
Though details of the private meeting which was held behind closed doors could not be made public but it was learnt that is not far from what Okorocha is passing through in recent times.
A source in Aso Rock who witnessed Okorocha’s visit to Buhari merely said that it is normal as part of the Sallah visit which the former governor is entitled to, but something more than the Muslim celebration concerning his challenges could have also been discussed.
“We see such visits as regular especially during Sallah period. It is not unusual just that certain issues beyond Sallah visit can be the reason for the visit of the former governor,” the source added.
Remarkably, Okorocha’s visit to Buhari is coming before the judgment day for the case instituted by the former governor against INEC over non issuance of the Certificate of Return, the electoral body denied him for the Orlu zone Senate ticket.
