This is not the best period for Imo State governor as the world seems to be falling on him at the moment.

Reason is because his party, the All Progressive Congress, APC despite handing him a suspension has turned its back at him over the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to give him Certificate of Return.

Okorocha has been experiencing difficult times since the 2019 general election were conducted.

Apart from having his certificate of Return as winner of Imo West Senatorial District, withheld over allegations by the returning officer that he declared the result under duress, the adopted choice for successor and son in-law lost the governorship election under AA party.

Few days after the result was announced INEC went public to announce that it won’t issue certain of Return to any candidate the result was declared under duress.

While the court was unable to grant Okorocha immediate reprieve by asking INEC to issue him certificate of Return as the matter has been adjourned, APC, the party that governor used the platform to run and win has declared no interest to help.

It would be recalled that following the excessive interest Okorocha shunned at ensuring the son in-law won Imo governorship and become his successor under AA, the governor was suspended for anti-party activities.

Making official comment over the matter, APC through its National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Isa Onilu at a news conference in Abuja expressed party’s disapproval to coming to Okorocha’s rescue.

According to the party’s spokesman, APC cannot help the Imo State governor in the matter because of the suspension slammed on him by the party. “He has not reported his dilemma to the party. We cannot take any position on that now. “Governor Okorocha is on suspension.

“Until that is vacated, we can’t handle his case” he added.
