The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo state Chapter is said to have set a panel to investigate the state Secretary of the party, Sir George Egu, over inflammatory comments coming out from his office.
Imo Trumpeta learnt that Egu is facing a Disciplinary Committee headed by Chief Ragis Uwakwe to grill him over peddling of rumours and if found guilty, would be penalised.
This Newspaper learnt that the panel has sat once to articulate its questions and now ready to invite George Egu to come and clear the allegations against him.
It was learnt that the party decided to set up the investigative panel after it was unveiled that Egu has been behind the rumours which have been creating up tension in Imo PDP lately.
Imo Trumpeta was told that it was George Egu who muted the idea that the embattled Imo council chairmen be summoned and asked where they belonged between Okorocha and Imo PDP.
Our source said Egu invited the Council Chairmen after he said intelligence report had it that most of the Council Chairmen were about dumping PDP for Rochas Okorocha’s camp.
Although most PDP stalwarts were happy with the summon given to the Council Chairmen, but others said that it portrayed the council chairmen as unreliable and cannot be trusted, which infuriated most of the Council Chairmen who still nurse grudges against Egu since after that meeting which took place at the party office, along Okigwe road, Owerri. The summon took place last month.
Egu also was fingered as the person who informed party members that there is a plot by one of the PDP chieftains from Imo who went to Abuja to lobby the party hierarchy at Wadata House, Abuja, that a new congress should be conducted, where the entire Executive members of the state Exco as presently constituted, would be flushed out.
This news, sources said, generated a lot of bad blood within the party circle as angry Exco members poured venom or the said Chieftain alleged to be plotting the said removal of the state PDP Exco.
The matter even got to the Local Government level, where PDP LGA chairmen were told to prepare to quit office, courtesy the said Chieftain in Abuja. Egu was said to be the defacto state chairman, who does whatever he likes, damning the state chairman, Bar Exe Duruiheoma, SAN who is a quiet man by nature.
The source told Imo Trumpeta that Egu’s exploits in the party has come under intensive scrutiny since he believes he is untouchable and can do anything and go free.
However, there is the believe that the problem with Imo PDP is that it barks without biting. It was alleged that the party was yet to take any action against Prince Marcon Nlemigbo after he was investigated against anti party activities.
Same goes for Senator Osita Izunaso, who travels and dines with Gov Rochas Okorocha of APGA, yet PDP is still to take a decisive action against him.
Attempt to reach Egus was not successful as he failed to pick his calls.
