As various groups in Imo state continue to pay solidarity visits to the Governor – Elect of the state, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, a sect of office holders in the state, the council chairmen and councillors are missing.
Trumpeta observed that while many groups have been to the campaign and private home of Ihedioha to felicitate with him, the 27chairmen and councillors are no where to be found.
The conspicuous absence of the chairmen and councillors around the incoming governor is raising concerns among Imolites who are disturbed why the LGA officials kept away two weeks after INEC announced the PDP candidate winner.
Trumpeta noticed that the labour unions, journalists’ body and other groups in the state have been having field day interfacing with Ihedioha, but no words of congratulation from the chairmen and their councillors.
Available sources revealed that the chairmen/ councillors who are products of Okorocha administration may have kept away from Ihedioha to please the incumbent governor who is yet to congratulate and accept the victory of Ihedioha after the March 9,2019 governorship election.
Further sources revealed that the chairmen/ councillors are afraid to come close to Ihedioha because they may be removed from office if Ihedioha is sworn in.
The fear may not be unconnected to their belief that Ihedioha may repeat Okorocha’s 2011 style where he sacked the elected council chairmen in one swoop and replaced them with caretaker committee chairmen.
