There is serious tension now in Imo Rescue Mission over the fresh move by Governor Rochas Okorocha’s detractors to deny his son inlaw Chief Uche Nwosu, his AA guber mandate for the March 2019 election.

The latest as we gathered is that a fresh case has filed against the candidacy of Uche Nwosu as the governorship candidate of the AA.

Information available to us revealed that an Owerri High Court handling the matter has reserved March 4 and 5, 2019 for accelerated hearing and determination of the suit filed Evangelist Myke Ikoku seeking to reclaim his mandate as the authentic guber candidate of the Action Alliance, AA, having been earlier nominated by the party and submitted to Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, in a suit number HOW/21/2019. The plantiff is challenging the unlawful deletion of his name as the duly nominated Action Alliance AA candidate for the 2019 guber election in Imo State and replacing it with the name of Okorocha’s son inlaw, Uche Nwosu. This fear is heightened by a statements credited to Nwosu’s governorship campaign spokesman, Jones Onwasanya who asked their supporters not to entertain any fear

It could be recalled that after the Imo APC primaries which did not favour the Rescue Mission group, the son inlaw to the governor moved to get a soft landing and he eventually grabbed Action Alliance Ticket.

According to Onwusanya in a report scooped online from Punch newspaper,
The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, on Wednesday said that there was no controversy surrounding his emergence as the  party candidate.

Nwosu, who was reacting to a case instituted by Mr. Myke Ikoku challenging his nomination process, said the litigant had joined those who were afraid of his popularity.

A statement issued in Owerri by Jones Onwuasanya, Director, Media and Publicity

Uche Nwosu Campaign Organization noted that as the governorship candidate of the Young Democratic Party in the state, Mr. Myke Ikoku cannot lay claim to the governorship ticket of another political party.

The statement said that the Electoral Act was very explicit on the consequences for dual nominations.

The statement said that Nwosu “went through the correct legal, political and even moral processes” before securing the ticket of the Action Alliance.

“Myke Ikoku is the governorship candidate of the Young Democratic Party and therefore cannot lay claim to the governorship ticket of another political Party. The Electoral Act is explicit on the consequences for dual nomination.

“The governorship candidature of Uche Nwosu is not in any form of credible contention from any quarters.

“Uche Nwosu went through the correct legal, political and even moral processes before securing the ticket of the Action Alliance.”

“Imolites, especially, hundreds of thousands of the youths, have freely volunteered to guard the votes that will be cast for His Excellency Ugwumba Uche Nwosu.

“We wish to assure our teeming supporters and Imolites in general that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu’s candidature on the AA platform is the safest, most credible and most legitimate governorship ticket in Imo State in the 2019 election season.
