The train of the Peoples Democratic Party, Imo State, was in Nkwerre Local Government yesterday, in continuation of its Statewide Campaigns. The party had visited Nwangele Local Government before arriving at the ancient Nkwerre Country Club, where a Town Hall meeting with critical stakeholders of the LGA was held.
In Nkwerre, the PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, pointed out that his only motivation for running for Governor is to ensure that Imo is rapidly developed. He decried the State of unemployment among the youths of Imo State which according to him is an evidence of bad governance.
The former Deputy Speaker of the Federal Republic assured that Imo under his watch will pay close attention to youth development, quality skill acquisition and women empowerment. He noted that if the youths are properly engaged, the rate of crime in the society will drastically reduce.
“When we assume office, we shall ensure that opportunities are created for our youths to flourish. The level of unemployment today is on the high side. Our youths interested in skills do not also have the enabling environment to grow. Our focus will be on tackling these challenges because when you have majority of the youths properly engaged, the level of crime and other social vices will reduce”— Ihedioha added.
Speaking earlier, the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa, Onwa Imo, thanked the people of Nkwerre for their love for the PDP. He assured them that the Candidate of the PDP, Emeka Ihedioha, has what it takes both mentally and otherwise to revive Imo from where it is today to the Imo of our desire. He canvassed support for all candidates of the PDP in the State and the Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The State Chairman of the PDP l, Chief Charles Ezekwem, had earlier urged the people of Nkwerre and by extension Orlu Zone, to Vote for Emeka Ihedioha for Governor, in other to uphold equity and fairness. He noted that the right thing to do at this time is to support Owerri Zone to win governorship in 2019, hence Orlu and Okigwe Zones have had their fair shares in the leadership of Imo State.
The rally had the presence of party leaders among whom were, Dr Alex Obi, Chief Ebere Udeagu, the deputy Governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Gerald Irona, Chief Chibuike Achigbu, Rt. Hon. Chuma Nnaji, Lady May Ugwu, Engr. Ben Ekwueme,
