If news emanating from the office of the Publicity Secretary of the National Executive Council, NEC, of Action Alliance, AA, is anything to go by, then, it would be ‘to your tents oh Israel’ for Ugwumba Uche Nwosu and his followers.
This may not be unconnected with their full participation in the rally organized for the APC women and youths in Imo State last Saturday as a campaign kick-off.
Nwosu, who joined the Action Alliance party in the eleventh hour after losing out the APC governorship ticket to Senator Hope Uzodinma, according to Trumpeta investigations, is likely going to be shown a red card for allegedly going against the party’s constitution and NEC’s instructions.
The recent APC rally held at the Dan Anyiam stadium Owerri could be the high point for the governor’s son in-law, who only was not present at the APC affair, but declared an open support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection bid.
Even though there have been several warnings from the AA NEC which Nwosu brandishes it’s guber ticket against drumming supports for Buhari’s second term ambition, his persistence in towing towards the ‘forbidden’ lane has attracted the ire of the AA National leadership.
Responding to numerous questions surrounding the participation of AA members in the said APC rally, the National Chairman of AA, Udeze Kenneth Obidiche wrote on his facebook page,
“We’ve nothing to do with Buhari’s re-election – AA”
“Action Alliance (AA) has said it has nothing to do with the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari”.
A statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of AA, Prince Chukwuemeka Okoli, noted that AA is a member of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) which has since adopted Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate”.
The Release maintained, “Action Alliance was reacting to what it described as the mischievous involvement of AA in a rally organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State in support of the re-election of Buhari, held on 12th January, 2019″.
According to the statement, T-shirts were branded in the guise of AA being part of the rally.
The statement described such development “as a calculated attempt to mislead the electorate in a bid to use the platform of AA to gain undue selfish advantage”.
The release maintained that AA is well focused in ensuring that Atiku Abubakar takes over the leadership of the country, which he said is in dire need of revival.
“It warned those using the platform of AA to deceive the public, to desist forthwith, while urging members of the party and the general public to disregard such deceptive move”.
Udeze Obidiche further described such act as an extended level of insubordination and aberration to the party’s constitution.
“The party’s decision is supreme and it is the decision of the NEC of AA under my leadership not to associate with APC FG led by President Buhari. Any action outside this shall amount to anti party and insubordination.
AA Constitution is far different from APC constitution. Party’s position is clear and am very sure that no member of AA State executive or LGA executive alike can go contrary to Party decision. Any person seen in such gathering of failed Buhari project can easily be likened to wolves in sheep clothing. Not members of AA”.
Meanwhile, he threatened to evoke the constitutional rights on defaulters, and to make an official statement regarding the stand of AA before end of January, 2019.
