There are strong indications that other remaining APC candidates who were part of the Okorocha group in the political structure are gradually dumping the governorship ambition of his favourite candidate, Chief Uche Nwosu of the AA for the party’s candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
The signs appeared stronger at the Art Noveau Event Centre in Owerri when Senator Uzodinma officially unveiled his plans for the state if elected governor.
Trumpeta noticed the presence of two die-hard followers of Okorocha, Chief Emma Ojinere and Chief Blyden Amajirionwu who before now had been Nwosu’s strong crusaders for the governorship project.
Their presence at the hall heightened speculations that they may have abandoned Nwosu for Uzodinma as candidates of the party.
While Ojinere is the APC Senatorial candidate for Owerri zone (Imo East Senatorial District), Amajirionwu is of Ngor Okpala/Aboh Federal Constituency.
Other House of Assembly candidates of APC who were Okorocha’s lieutenants in the past like Dr Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, Hon Uche Agabige, member representing Orsu State constituency and Ifeanyi Opara, APC candidate for Ikeduru were visible at the event’s place.
However, Trumpeta was unable to spot two House of Reps candidates of APC, Rt Hon Ugonna Ozuruigbo and Hon Ralph Nnanna Igbokwe of Nkwerre/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba and Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituencies.
Both are also known associates of Okorocha backing Nwosu despite his AA background.
Another APC candidate conspicuously absent was Hon Chike Okafor for Okigwe South Federal Constituency.
No reason was given for their absence but Trumpeta gathered that it may be linked to the Nwosu/Okorocha interest in AA.
