Irked by the continued seizure of council property, the Orlu legislative council has mandated the Orlu Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to recover without further delay all council vehicles in the custody of the ousted transition committee chairman Mr Ifeanyi Olumba.
In a resolution after the legislative sitting at the council over the weekend and signed by the Leader and Deputy Leader of the council Honorables Nwagba Maurice Gozie, Prince Nwosu Stanley and others, the councilors described the action of the former Transition Committee chairman as criminal and illegal.
They listed the vehicles as (1) A Toyota Corolla car for the Chairman (2) A Toyota Camry car for the leader of the legislative council (3) A Toyota Hilux pick – up for project monitoring belonging to the council a (4) A Toyota bus belonging to the primary Health Department of the local government.
The resolution also mandated the Executive chairman of Orlu Local Government Chief Eddy Obioha to continue to take full control and absolute charge of the administrative functions of the local government area until their 3 – year tenure elapsed.
“That Orlu legislative council has not in any form or guise mandated any councilor and other political office holders in the council to receive any payment on her behalf or negotiate any settlement to waive off our outstanding tenure of office for financial inducement or any self seeking opportunity”.
According to the resolution, any person or group of persons who go into any form of negotiation does so at his or her won risk.
The legislators quickly urged the executive chairman to set up without further delay an active task force to embark on internally generated revenue drive in Orlu including all the markets, parks, health centers and other revenue centers of the local government.
