The Imo State chapter of the Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors on Tuesday inaugurated newly elected executive members of the professional body with renowned scientist and activist, MLS Peter Nseabasi (JP) at the helm of affairs, of the new administration.
The event which took place at Bonanza Hotels, Onumonu Street, Owerri witnessed the presence of eminent medical laboratory scientists trainers and lecturers from various institutions and establishments in the state.
The gathering also featured the swearing in of the new Executives, including the Chairman, MLS Nseabasi Peter, the Vice Chairman, Gbalaham Steven, Secretary General, Emeh Kenneth, Treasurer, Chioma Adim, Financial Secretary, Obidiegwu Henry, Welfare, Nnadi Chilekezi E.
Delivering an inaugural address, the newly elected chairman of the Guild, MLS Peter Nseabasi (JP) urged Medical Laboratory Directors to gird up their loins because of the herculean task ahead.
MLS Nseabasi said, “we are faced with the realities of the impetuous challenges of the practice, which we must overcome by tackling these head-over-heels. They include Quack practices, Bench Training, proliferation of Medical Laboratories and incessant double taxation by government agencies, unemployment, amongst others.
Such practices make health care not to be affordable. I call on every medical practitioner to consider adequate Medical Laboratory Diagnosis as a panacea for affordable healthcare”.
According to the chairman, the forthcoming Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors Annual General Meeting Tagged “Imo 2019” as a fore runner to AMLSN Imo 2020 is the biggest task ahead. He however commended the immediate past chairman, Dr Kingsley Dunga, Dr John Okwara, Acting Registrar, Sir Tosan Erahbor.
The chairman of the Guild also commended, Elder Hilary Obielu, Director Honia Lab, Isaac Onuh, Director Ziko Lab, Pastor Imeh Okey, Director Elista Lab, Igwebuike Charles, Pastor Jaja Njemanze, Dr O.U Amajioyi, Director Salvation Laboratory and Sir Anthony Nkwocha.
The Guild also recognized St. John’s Laboratory, Dalzon Medical Laboratory, Bethel Links Medical Laboratory, St.Paul Medical Lab, Meditest Diagnostic Laboratory, Alpha Links Medical Lab, Kentec Medical Lab, Gladrow Medical Lab, Labhud Medical Lab and Emmanuel Medical Lab, Dr Henry Ama and MLS (Mrs) Nwangwuma, the electoral officers.
In his speech, the immediate past chairman, Dr Dunga Kingsley urged members of the Guild to support the MLS Nseabasi led executive council.
