An American Certified Public Accountant and seasoned healthcare manager, Hon (Mrs) Ngozi Nwanna has emerged as the flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress Party ADC, for the Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senatorial district election come 2019.
While interacting with the press in Owerri shortly after her emergence, she described the process that gave her the ticket as the most transparent primary expressing her profound gratitude to God and the National Working Committee NWC of ADC ably led by Chief Okey Nwosu for the maturity exhibited by the leaders.
Hon Ngozi Nwosu further appreciated the State Chairman of the party, Barr Ignatius Nlem and his State Working Committee as well as the party faithful for finding her worthy to fly their party flag in the Owerri zone Senate race.
On her promises when she gets to the national assembly, Hon Ngozi Nwanna said;
“I will represent the collective interest of the people of our district.
“1shall support and encourage ANYONE/COMPANY that will want to build industries, provide training and create jobs for our youths.
“1will address and seek assistance that will help to solve major economic issues in our senatorial district. 1 will fight poverty to extinction. I will restore citizens’ rights, ensure stakeholders’ status quo and hear masses voice.
“1will work with our governor to create opportunities where graduates will find jobs; where the poor will find food; where clean water will be available for all; where free and quality primary and secondary school education is the right of our children; where peace and unity will be the motto of the state; where security for all is not a luxury; and most importantly where issues of electricity and other infrastructure that makes the society strive, will become a priority.
“1shall equally work with our governor to realize that we are servants of our great state: putting fear of God first in discharging our duties, respecting for our elders and leaders, respecting rule of law where ALL elected Officials will be held accountable for the office they represent.
“1will also promote progressive ideas to solve the challenges we face and stand firm against corruption and enrichment of self through public fund.
“1will improve and modernize healthcare system in our senatorial zone. I will provide access to necessary infrastructures that allow Hospitals, Medical Doctors, Nurses and other healthcare providers to provide first class medical services to our citizens and hold them accountable for unnecessary malpractices. In this 2Tl Century, no woman should die from child delivery.
“I will work towards improving our School system and Teachers training. I wall work with our governor and local government Chairmen to invest in our local schools and provide nutritional meals to primary school children. 1 will expand our early childhood education and ensure that our secondary school graduates are ready for university or career-ready. I will provide everyone an opportunity for a career path by connecting people to certification and degree programs in high-demand fields that lead to high-paying jobs.
“1 will continue to work with our governor to improve our transportation system. Access to public transport is essential to a vibrant economy. Working together, we will introduce city public bus system in all major cities. We will encourage and support public transportation businesses, including leveraging from transportation engineers on how best to provide affordable public transportation and reduce congestion on our roads.
“1 will attract federal government funding to create programs that support children with physical and developmental disabilities. Children with disabilities will no longer be the problems of the family alone. I will work with professionals in Diaspora and at home to create programs that will assist our disabled children to live to their maximum capability. Working with the governor, we will have inclusive programs at schools and provide them with every technology they need to learn and be part of the mainstream in the society. Parents of children with disabilities will be trained and supported.
“1 will work with our local farmers and provide them with necessary tools and crops needed to be successful farmers. Sustainable farming is essential to a growing economy.
“1 will do everything possible to bring federal government presence to our district and take your voice to federal government also. 1 will work on our collective interest and introduce bills that will favor our district,” She stated.
In his reaction on the emergence of Hon Ngozi Nwanna as the ADC Senatorial Candidate for Owerri zone, the campaign DG “Ngozi Nwanna for Senate 20919”, Hon Andyson Obani Ugonna described her as the answer to the neglect and annihilation the senatorial district has suffered in the past.
He assured that Hon Ngozi Nwanna will apart from attracting Federal presence to the area ensure a quarterly Town Hall meeting to feel the impulse and desires of the constituents with the view of bettering their lot.
The Nigerian Premier League referee and a Frontline Imo House of Assembly contender for Ezinihittee Mbaise State Constituency Seat maintained that women are vital in politics pointing out that Ngozi Nwanna will reactivate abandoned development centers for skill acquisition centers and adult education while agitating for Girl-child education and effective utilization of constituency allowance.
He insisted that Ngozi Nwanna is a blessing to Owerri zone as he called on the constituents and beyond to rally support for a rear woman of virture.
Also speaking, the Owerri zonal Youth Leader of ADC, Chief Dr Emma Emeremini said Hon Ngozi Nwanna is the most qualified candidate among all the contestants in all other political parties stating that she possess the best quality and antecedents to give the area an effective and efficient representation at the red chambers of the National Assembly.
Emeremini further elucidated that women never fail in their goals, adding that with a voice like Ngozi Nwanna, Owerri zone Senatorial shall get better.
