No Money Yet For Heartland Players

The players of the Federation Cup Champions Heartland FC of Owerri are yet to receive the 80% of their remaining sign-fees as was promised by His Excellency, Governor Rochas Okorocha.

Okorocha had on the 31st of August in a reception organized to welcome the back-to back champions promised to pay all their outstanding sign – on fees the following week.

Meanwhile, an inside source that pleaded anonymity has reliably informed ‘Imo Trumpeta’ that three weeks after the Naze-millioniars secured another berth at the CAF Confederation Cup, they are yet to see a dime from the remaining 80% of their sign-on-fees for 2011/12 season just ended.

The source further did reveal that the players have already started getting agitated over the development and that this may lead to a mass exodus of most of the teams senior players especially now that their management are thinking of dropping the idea of paying players sign-on-fees from next season.

It would be recalled that the team suffered series of crisis including strike actions by the players to protest the non – payment of their remaining sign-on-fees.

There is however a general believe that if the team must do well in the next coming 2012/13 season, the government must do everything possible that the good players are retained and sharper and dedicated players added to their team for more exploits to be achieved especially at the continental scene.
