Everything is now on the ground for the foundation laying ceremony of a secretariat complex of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, NCSU Imo state Council taking place this Friday, September 14, 2012. The venue is Imo Specialist Hospital Umuguma in Owerri West LGA.
Briefing Imo Trumpeta in his office about the ceremony, the Chief Secretary NCSU Imo state Council, Comrade Luka J. Dahang disclosed that Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha will perform the ceremony assisted by the NCSU national President, Comrade Mohammed Kiri and other national officers of the union.
Estimated to cost N50 million, the Secretariat complex is being developed by Krugger Brent Project Services Ltd and Office Products Planet Ltd, South African andLagosrespectively. The complex is expected to be completed next year.
The occasion also marks the centenary celebration of the Nigeria Civil Service Union.
Founded on 19th August 1912, the Nigeria Civil Service Union is the first and oldest trade union in the country. It is affiliated to Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Public Service International, PSI.
As the father of all trade unions, NCSU fought and liberated Nigerian workers from the indignation arising from the oppressive, unfair and unjust tendencies of the colonial administration inNigeria.
