Tongues are wagging following the glaring absence of Okenze Sylverster Obinna, one of the pillars of All Progressive Congress, APC, in Ngor Okpala, when the party in the LGA, was led by the Secretary to Imo State Government, Sir George Eche on a solidarity visit to the State chairman of the Okorocha faction of APC, Mr Daniel Nwafor.
Welcoming the Ngor Okpala APC, Daniel Nwafor, who received the visitors in his office at Okigwe road, Owerri, said that Ngor Okpala APC has always remind one and steadfast, pointing out that Ngor Okpala APC is one of the strongest LGA chapters in the entire federation.
“Ngor Okpala is a strong hold of APC in Imo State. It is one of the constituencies where we are sure of winning without much problem” Nwafor said.
In his speech, leader of the delegation, Sir George Eche commended the zeal and commitment Dan Nwafor has exhibited since he assumed office as APC State Chairman, which he said has reinvigorated APC in Imo State.
Eche maintained that Ngor Okpala LGA has enjoyed much dividends of democracy since the inception of APC Government in Imo State.
In his own contribution, the member representing Ngor Okpala constituency in the Imo House of Assembly, Hon Obinna Egu who won his seat under PDP but defected to APC, promised that APC will clear the stakes during the 2019 elections in Ngor Okpala.
However, despite these eulogies and commendations the issue was the absence of an Ngor Okpala APC heavy weight, Okenze Obinna at the parley.
Even though Hon Egu tried to explain Okenze’s absence, but not many were swayed with is excuses, as pundits wondered why Okenze stayed away from such a crucial meeting.
This scenario led many to conclude that the cold war raging between Okenze and Eche, over who is the Apex leader of APC in Ngor Okpala may not have been resolved, after all.
Before now, there was a subtle battle over who is the leader of Ngor Okpala APC between Eche and Okenze Obinna.
However, Eche has been the highest appointee in Ngor Okpala in the Okorocha era.
But Okenze Obinna, before he joined APC months ago, was a top shot of PDP in Ngor Okpala, in whose House the party hierarchy meet and take crucial decisions.
Therefore, when Okenze moved on to APC, the feeling was that Okenze would retain that superior status he enjoined in PDP, but it has not been so, as Eche is not giving any ground on his grip on Ngor Okpala APC.
