The Senator representing Orlu zone in the National Assembly, Chief Hope Uzodinma is said to be weighing the option of joining Imo Governorship race in 2019, which will lead him forget his senatorial seat.
According to impeccable information available to Trumpeta, Uzodinma may make the declaration soon, before the commencement of party primaries next month.
Trumpeta was told that Uzodinma is about to reenact his 2007 Imo Governorship strategy under PDP where he joined the race at the late hour, and yet posted an impressive result by coming a close second position behind Senator Ifeanyi Araraume who won the ticket.
It was learnt that already Uzodinma in the last few days has been busy mobilizing his followers, who meet every day at the PDP former State office located at Okigwe Road, Owerri.
The declaration, it is said is a matter of days, but one particular issue is delaying Uzodinma from going ahead with the exercise.
Trumpeta learnt that Uzodinma is now confused over under which All Progressive Congress, APC faction he would make his ambition known.
An insider told Trumpeta that Uzodinma does not know whether to register his Governorship ambition with the Okorocha APC, led by Dan Nwafor, or Allied Forces APC led by Dr Hillary Eke.
This situation, Trumpeta was told, is the only stumbling block in the Hope Uzodinma Governorship declaration.
It is said that if Uzodinma runs for Imo governorship it therefore means that he has created an easy coast for Owelle Rochas Okorocha to pick the Orlu Senatorial ticket under APC.
However, it is not yet clear what the Senator would do assuming he fails to clinch the Imo APC Governorship slot, as Okorocha or any other Aspirant would have settled with the Orlu Senatorial ticket.
Trumpeta was told that if Uzodinma joins the guber race now, it will pose a very big challenge to the anointed “Candidate” of Okorocha, which is his son in-law, and Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu.
Should Uzodinma join the race, it would raise the stake for others running for Imo APC Governorship, as the Senator is seen as a free spender who does not spare anything while pursuing an ambition.
Should he declare, Uzodinma becomes another “Orlu Man” in APC jostling for the Imo Governorship ticket said to have been in principle ceded to Owerri or Okigwe zones.
