Stakeholders of Mbaise clan and custodians of the new yam festival, (Iriji Mbaise), have resolved that the annual festival will still hold at Ezenihitte Mbaise but no award or title shall be given to any government appointee, especially, the controversial one concerning the Chief of Staff, Imo Government House, Chief Uche Nwosu.
Trumpeta gathered that after the meeting held at Ezumezu Mbaise Hall, last Friday in Aboh Mbaise, the stakeholders resolved that for peace to reign in Mbaise land, Uche Nwosu should not be given any title or award, including any other government appointee. “Iriji Mbaise will take place on the 15th of August but no award will be given to any appointee of government” a source who was part of the meeting and didn’t want his name mentioned told the newspaper.
Trumpeta learnt the issue of chieftaincy title to Nwosu have been raising eyebrows in the State with several socio-political organizations kicking against it.
It was also reported that money exchanged hands between the state government and few Mbaise monarchs for the title award to hold.
A top monarch of Mbaise extraction told Trumpeta that the event will hold but Nwosu may not be honoured. “We met on Friday and decided to forget about the chieftaincy title to Nwosu. We are scared how our subjects will react hence we stopped the idea”, he added.
