Apparently worried by the activities of local government staffers who they allege connive with the Owelle Rochas Okorocha government to deny them full access into offices and other vital responsibilities in the council, the elected chairman, councillors and other political appointees of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA have chased away some staffers of the council out their offices.
Imo Trumpeta learnt that trouble started when the NULGE held a meeting with the DAGs and other staff. Moments after the meeting, the elected officers of the council stormed the office of the DAGs and ordered that he surrenders everything including his official car keys. An argument ensued between them and some principal officers of the staff who were hurried dragged out of their offices.
The tyres of their vehicles were deflated and disallowed to leave the premises while other targeted staffers took to their heels to avoid being injured in the ensuing melee.
It was not gathered what may have led to the new approach of the elected LG officials but Imo Trumpeta was told that the chairman and councillors were aggrieved that the DAGS and TR as well as other principal officers of the council have been conniving with government agents to not only deny them access into the council but has also refused to cooperate with the elected persons to run the affairs of the council.
Meanwhile, it was a drama at the headquarters of Aboh Mbaise LGA, Aboh, when two persons suspected to be agents ofImoStategovernment were caught in the act of carrying away valuable official local government documents belonging to the immediate past TC chairman of the LGA Hilary Eke.
The persons, suspected to be sponsored agents from the State Government gained access to the chairman’s office with the help of a woman who is a staff of the LGA (names withheld).
According to the Vice – Chairman of Aboh Mbaise LGA, Hon. Cletus Ugwo, who alleged that the two persons are working in concert with the council’s Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS), of the LGA.
He said the suspects sneaked into the chairman’s office with Ghana Must Go Bags and were carting away vital documents of the council when they were apprehended.
Imo Trumpeta learnt that the suspects were handed over to security agents after I by staff of the council who have severally lamented over government’s insensitivity to their plight, manhandled them.
