Worried over the implosion which the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) had witnessed in the recent time within the South East states, which had been as a result of dissatisfaction from aspirants, the leadership of the party may have weighed viable options to manage the number of those seeking elective offices at all levels.

Trumpeta newspapers investigation has it that a party national team headed by the National Secretary of the party, Dr Labaran Maku, is already in Imo State for where he has been interfacing with the leadership, stake holders and aspirants in the State.

Our source has it in good authority that part of the mandate of the high powered delegation is to ascertain any obstacle which would be an impediment towards electoral victory of the party in the State in 2019 especially in the Governorship contest.

Realizing the crisis arising from the party’s Governorship primaries in 2015 which immensely contributed in the poor showing of the party in the last Governorship election in the State, the party may have designed another roadmap to guard against a repeat of that scenario.

Part of the mandate of the group which is expected to wind up its six day visit to Imo State which ends today is to ascertain the contributions of the aspirants, especially, those of the Governorship to the party since they joined.

Others include, the zoning arrangements where they exists, population of voters from the aspirants bloc as well as their financial readiness to finance the election proper.

As at our last count, no fewer than twenty Governorship aspirants had faced the plan in a closed door session. They include Barrister Humphery Anumudu, Mr Frank Nneji, Senator Bright Nwanne, Mr Okey Eze, Barrister Uche Onyeaguocha, Mr Amuchie and Chief Ikedi Ohakim.

Others are Barrister Charles Onyeagbako, Barrister Steve Nwoga, Mr Daniel Kanu, Capt David Mbamara (Rtd), Dr Joe Obi-Njoku, Chief Ike C. Ibe, Mr Nick Oparandudu, among others.
