Chairmen of Three Local Government Areas in Imo State, namely, Engr Ikenna Elezieanya, Owerri West, Kevin Nwanaforo, Ideato South LGA, and Prince Ikegwuruka, Ohaji/Egbema LGA have denied Newspaper reports and rumours making the rounds that the trio have joined Gov Rochas Okorocha’s camp.
Speaking to Imo Trumpeta separately in Owerri yesterday, they described the insinuation as not only wicked propaganda, but effort by political detractors to smear their names and reputations, adding that they not only remain Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members, but are strong members of Imo ALGON, who are at all times out to fight to a conclusive end, the quest to retrieve their mandates as elected council chairmen, which Okorocha used Radio announcement to abrogate before they could complete their tenures.
Hon Elezieanya told Imo Trumpeta that apart from being a politician, he is also a professional who has means of livelihood, and therefore not begging for survival.
“Okorocha has never invited me to any private meeting, nor have I visited Imo Government House for anything except the day I went there with my colleagues to meet the Governor” the former Lawmaker disclosed.
The Leader of Owerri West Legislative Council, Hon Anukam Paul corroborated Elezieanya, saying that the council chairman had instructed all the Councilors to remain steadfast until the battle with Okorocha was seen to have been won and lost.
In his own reaction, Ikegwuruka said his emenies are out to blackmail him, but have failed, adding that he cannot abandon PDP or ALGON.
Nwanaforo said he was embarrassed with the News, saying that even though he is the Local Government Chairman from where Gov Okorocha comes from, yet he has remained focused and committed to PDP course, and has not had anything personal to do with Okorocha.
“I have no reason or intension to dump PDP or ALGON. As a politician, my integrity matters to me, and I am not a fair weather politician” he told Imo Trumpeta.
