Since the death of Bishop Chikwe, Ahiara Diocese has been surrounded with uncertainty until recently Bishop Ugorji from Umuahia Diocese was appointed to take charge and fill the vacuum created by the resignation of Bishop Peter Okpaleke who resigned his position the Bishop after controversies dogged his appointment and consecration.
After his reception at the Diocese, Bishop Ugorji held meeting with the priests and resolved to move the place forward. One of things decided was to transfer all the parish priests to new places and this new development was welcomed in all quarters among the clergy and the laity
This, according to the faithful in the Diocese has brought a sigh of relief to the parish priests and parishioners have stayed more than eight years in many parishes. Moreover, the transfer was trailed with praises even from the clergies and worshippers who are on the ground that staying long in a particular place will affect the spiritual growth of a priest and the congregation.
Bishop Ugorji will now conduct ordination in Ahiara Diocese. It would be recalled that since the death of the pioneer Bishop of Ahiara Diocese, Bishop Chikwe, ordination has not taken place there which brought a lot of setback in the church as the people refused Bishop Okpaleke because he is not an indigenous priest.
Trumpeta gathered that following this latest development, series of ordination of priests have been scheduled to take place in Ahiara Diocese from next month and this have brought joy to Mbaise people.
