In a bid to now take the battle to the door steps of the All Progressives Congress APC Coalition in Imo State, otherwise called the “Allied Forces” the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has drafted one of his few remaining loyalists, (Chief) Bar Rex Anunobi (Sokom) into the fray to challenge Senator Osita Izinaso for the position of the National Organizing Secretary of the party, presently occupied by Izunaso.
Izunaso is one of the Coalition Team member that has given Okorocha a fight for his money in the just concluded Wards, LGAs and State Congress of APC in Imo State.
Now that the fight has shifted to Abuja, Okorocha is poised to outwit the Coalition by doing everything possible to dislodge Izunaso from the plum job of APC National Organizing Secretary, and hand it over to his ally, Anunobi, known as Sokom.
Pundits are saying that for Okorocha to back out from the Ward, LGA and State congresses of Imo APC only to now show interest in the National Congress, it means the Governor is heavily ready to battle the Allied Forces with every connection he has in Abuja, at least to pull the rug off Izunaso’s leg in the congress billed for first week of June.
Sokom, who is presently Okorocha’s Special Adviser on Trade is said to be full of optimism following assurance from his principal, Okorocha that Anunobi will be the object to be used to snatch food out of the coalition’s jaw.
A former elected chairman of Nkwerre LGA, Sokom is known for political intrigues and is a tested political war veteran, whose latest outing in Abuja would determine his profile in the future.
Already, Okorocha’s camp is boasting that Izunaso, who is accused by Okorocha’s Rescue Mission of master-minding the Governor’s downfall at the APC Ward congress would be given a political shock of his life.
Meanwhile, the “Allied Forces” have been busy fortifying their ranks, saying that Izunaso has delivered on the assignment given to him by humiliating Okorocha, therefore returning him as the National Organizing Secretary of APC is a payback time for other members of Allied Forces who have vowed to support the Senator.
The Allied Forces through their spokesman, Dr TOE Ekechi said that Okorocha has no chance in the world to produce an APC official asking how a man who could not produce a Ward officer in the three hundred and five (305) Wards in Imo State can now boast of producing a National Officer.
Other sources said that for Okorocha to participate in the National Congress billed for next month through Sokom is just to legitimatize the entire congresses in Imo State.
“In the first place, from where will Okorocha gather the delegates that would vote for Sokom? He is just floating in APC now. By the time Izunaso wins next month, Okorocha can then realize really that he has been shoved out of APC by Imo APC Coalition” a source told Trumpeta.
