The Governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the last Gubernatorial election in Imo State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, who has shown interest in the same position in 2019, got more than he bargained as he was mobbed by jubilant crowds in each of his stops, during his current tours of Imo LGAs in consultation with PDP Executives at the grass roots.
Ihedioha who had kick-started a tour of the Three Hundred and Five (305) Wards in the twenty seven (27) LGAs in Imo State with a visit to Ohaji/Egbema LGA was on Tuesday at Onuimo LGA.
However, right from the streets of Owerri, to Orji, through Eke Atta, Orie Amaraku to Anara, a tumultuous crowd trailed Ihedioha’s chain of vehicles until his security Details politely disengaged the plethora of supporters blocking Ihedioha’s vehicle, until he comes down to address them.
However, Ihedioha could no more avoid the jubilant Mob, who rushed to welcome him at Okwe, in Onuimo LGA, in the premises of Sir Chidi Dike whose palatial residence was stretched to the sims, with a mammoth crowd.
Although, Ihedioha’s visits to the Wards was billed for interaction and consultation with the Ward officers of PDP, but it could not be as PDP followers trooped out in their numbers to see the man they called “Green Cap Man”.
Ihedioha appealed to PDP Ward Executives in Onuimo LGA to help him pick PDP ticket in 2019 so as to carry out an over haul of the mess about to be left behind by Owelle Rochas Okorocha who is leave office soon in ignominy.
Ihedioha said that PDP belongs to Ward officers who are the foundation of the party, hence his visit to consult them on his ambition to yet again take a shot at Imo Governorship seat come 2019.
The climax of the Onuimo LGA tour was when the Ihedioha Team made a stop-over at Okwelle in the house of Chief Godie Ibekwe, whose wife Nkeiru is one of the Women Leaders of “TEAM IHEDIOHA”
Prof Obioma Iheduru, Chief MC Ukachu (Emetumba) Ugeze, Chief Ugwuibe, Mrs Nkeiru Ibekwe, Hon Jasper Ndubuaku etc who all spoke at the event made it clear that Ihedioha has all the qualities Imo State needs now to redeem her from the current socio-economic quagmire bedeviling the State due to a rudderless administration led by the outgoing Governor Rochas Okorocha.
