The leadership of Ezinihitte concerned citizens and Ezinihitte Youths Forum, has defended in strong terms, the election which catapulted the member, representing Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency, Hon. Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe into the Federal House of Reps, Abuja.
Part of the communiqué signed by Hon. Chris Nwogu, Chief Eddy Onyeneho, Ndukwe Unegbu and others read in part. “That voters came out massively to cast their vote, at the end of the day, Hon. Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe emerged victorious by polling 17,316 votes as against 13,1514 by his closest rival, Chief Chidi Ibe of APGA and 1,896 scored by the Labour Party Candidate, Mr. Ken Agbakwuru”.
The communiqué continued “that the election of Hon. Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe was a clear demonstration of the WILL and CHOICE of the people.
No doubt, the rerun election of February 25th 2012 will long be remembered in the annals of electioneering in Ahiazu and Ezinihitte Federal constituency as no election in Mbaise has brought together various political interests under one umbrella and raised issues that bother on the common interest of the Mbaise Nation. Therefore, the result of that election ordinarily, would have remained sacrosanct and respected by ALL as it is clearly the WILL of the people.
“At the end of this election, every right thinking citizen would expect all contestants to sheath their sword, congratulate the winner and work with him for the development of our area.
It is therefore regrettable and disheartening that some of our brothers especially the candidates of APGA and Labour Party who were roundly defeated at the rerun election adjudged to be free and fair by various umpires and observers alike have yet resorted to selfish mission to the Election Tribunal to scuttle the WILL of the people and cause unnecessary distractions to the incumbent who is their brother.
Accepted that they have the right to appeal the result of the election if they so wish, but we are only concerned that the unending litigations will only impoverish us rather than enriching us”.
The leaders stated further “it is also worrisome to note that one year is almost gone with Ahiazu /Ezinihitte seat still in Contest and in public discourse whereas other Federal Constituencies are on course enjoying attention and representation by their representatives.
We are concerned because we are most affected and worst – hit by this sad development.
We do not support their activities at this point. We feel ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and time should be concentrated on issues that will attract development to our area.
We urge you to use your good offices to counsel the aforementioned candidates to give peace a chance for the collective good of the society.
Life does not end with going to the HOUSE of REPS” they declared
