The physically challenged persons in Imo State under the aegis of Joint National Association of persons with Disability have sacked the State Secretary of the Association, Mr. Jude Okparaeke.
After an emergency meeting of the Executive Officers of the association on Wednesday 16th May, 2018 held in Owerri, the capital City of Imo State, Mr. Jude Okparaeke was sacked based on his inability to defend himself over series of allegations leveled against him which include financial recklessness, high handedness and insubordination.
Speaking to journalists, the second vice president of Joint National Association of persons with Disability Imo State chapter, Mr. Casmir Ezenwaka disclosed that Mr. Okparaeke’s offence was false information that the President General of the forum ordered him to transfer the organization’s money into his (President General bank account) whereas he purposely diverted the fund into his private pocket. “The President General was accused by the impeached secretary that he ordered that sum of forty-five thousand naira (N45,000) belonging to the organization should be transferred to his bank account. The chair he bought for us was one thousand naira only each, but he came back and told us that he bought them at sum of N2,000 each. He embezzled money given to him to buy table.
The secretary was impeached based on his financial recklessness, highhandedness, insubordination and forgery of the organizations documents and members’ signature. He hijacked duties of the welfare. He is indirectly ruling us as if he is the president general. He has been sacked as an executive member as well as indefinitely suspended as the floor member of the organization pending when the congress will recall him; he informed.
The second Vice President further disclosed that the association has given him 7 days ultimatum to return all the properties of the association in his possession.
Those present during the emergency meeting were the President General of the association and Executive Assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha on Special citizens, Hon. Bright Uzoma, Mr. Desmond Umunnakwe, Mrs. Ngozi Ironuma, Mr. Orihe Chibuike, Ekeh Stephen N; Kalu Christopher, Izuka Obinna, Grace Onyekwere, Iyke Ibe and Joseph Ibe.
