Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is now facing alleged serious scam over the reported omission of teachers names in the office payroll coupled with other alleged financial frauds which is putting the image of the place in a very bad light.

Information revealed that over 200 Community Government Council (C.G.C) Teachers are said to be in pains now for not receiving their salaries since February 2018.

Investigative report revealed that these teachers were recruited many years ago through accelerated programme of Imo State government. After some months, they were regularized by the State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

The beneficiaries started receiving full scale salaries up to January this year but got their names omitted from February.

Trumpeta gathered that affected teachers from various schools who could not get their salaries paid as at when due rushed to Imo State Universal Basic Education Board located on Port Harcourt Road, Owerri and discovered that their names have been omitted from the teachers payroll.

They complained to management of SUBEB and Trumpeta learnt that no serious action has been taken on the matter, till now. Some of the affected teachers from different primary schools in Imo State are now suspecting that the omission of their names from the payroll was deliberately staged to defraud the government.

It could be recalled that last year, the issue of promotion, mismanagement of fund coupled with alleged fraud on oversea trip for an international debate including illegal sale of SUBEB properties surfaced. Source of these alleged fraud were reported to Imo House of Assembly for further investigation.

All efforts to see the new SUBEB boss to react on the alleged fraud proved abortive as she was not in her office.

Even the Director of Administration, Mrs Stella Ukaegbu and other senior officers of SUBEB refused to talk to our reporter who visited the place for investigation.

The aggrieved C.G.C teachers also visited the place to report fresh complain to the new SUBEB boss but met her absent.

The teachers who are facing serious hardship as a result of non- payment of their salaries are planning protest to Government House with placards to show their grievances.
