An Abuja-based communication expert, Engr. Godwin Sunday Anusie, on Wednesday, indicated his interest to contest the Okigwe-North Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. He is also a barrister at Law.

He promised to give his people quality and effective representation if they give him their mandate. He wishes to actualize his aspiration on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing Ugiri/Oka Ward leaders at the centre, Anusie expressed dissatisfaction with the current representation of the area by their man in the House, saying the people are yet to feel the impact.

He said, “That is why after reflecting on the situation I told my people that something could be done to change the status quo so that there would be progress. We should fish out in our midst people who would deliver on the mandate. That is why I am vying.”

As he put it, “I have come for a special purpose – that purpose is to change the way and manner we look at governance with a new inspiration and the fear of God, to go into it with understanding that commonwealth should get to every Nigerian.”

He lamented that one of the problems of political representation in the state is the neglect elected leaders accord their electors after elections. Fie, therefore, urged the electorate to look for the right calibre of people in the 2019 elections.

Anusie condemned the expense on electricity monthly by the masses yet no light; so many graduates, no jobs; no pipe-borne water, promising to help to engender legislation that would usher in quality education and healthcare for the people.

He insisted that he has what it takes to rejuvenate the chequered story of his constituency to a success story as he has the capability and connection which he hopes to harness within the first one year in the legislative office.

According to him, “If the opportunity is given to me, by the grace of God whom I serve without reservation, those projects will begin to flow. I want to assure my people that is what I am going to do.”

In a post speech interview with newsmen, Anusie urged his constituents to always fish out those with integrity to represent them, arguing that political power should not be given to any person because they are popular or wealthy or because their fathers are heads of one big organization or the other but should be given to public- spirited people with community interest at heart to move it forward, urging that people should divest themselves of immediate political rewards or pecuniary consideration.

“This is the time Isiala Mbano, Onuimo and Okigwe local governments – Okigwe- North Federal Constituency -supposed to be represented in a very qualitative way.

I want to assure my people that is what I am going to do.”

Reacting, the people present attested to Anusie’s goodness and philanthropy. The Ward Chairman, Mr. John Edinji, noted that Anusie has always been supportive to the community. He assured him of their support at any length he wishes to go and prayed God for his success.

Another community leader, Chief Godwin Dikeoma, described the aspirant as capable and credible. He recounted his past benevolence to the community. Dikeoma commended those who kept the party going all this time, saying they deserve undiluted commendation. He promised Anusie people’s support and wished him success.

The youth leader, Mr. Emmanuel Iheh, pledged their support too.

“We will give him every necessary support that he needs.”

Mr. Basil Mbamara expressed confidence in chief Anusie’s candidature, describing him as “a very transparent human being” who is credible.

Anusie claimed he has a number of paid people in his establishment in addition to empowering others and has doled out scholarships to some indigent students. And has sponsored many more overseas. He is a deacon in the Church.

Many party stakeholders witnessed the declaration.
