Transport Commissioners Sues for Peace with Imo Commuters

 

The Commissioner for Transport, Imo State, Hon. Prince Lasbery Okaforanyanwu has asked those who make use of Public Transportation in Imo State to bear with the State Government as the various newly introduced Transport policies take their roots.

Speaking in Owerri, the Commissioner said that the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha means well for Imo State and its citizens, only that the populace are not patient enough for changes the Government newly introduced take root, especially in the Transport sector.

Okaforanyanwu therefore appealed to Imo Commuters to endure the little inconveniencies that may come their way now, but enjoy forever later, adding that everywhere in the world change is hardly accepted by the masses, but when later the gains begin to show while the enjoy, those that initiated such policies would have gone.

He said that Imo people will see the good jobs of Okorocha’s administration only when it has left office, stressing that some of these laudable policies needed a leader with boldness like Okorocha to enact such policies.

He said that the introduction of Taxis inside the State capital Owerri is a good idea which meets the current standards in the world today, adding that Taxi Transport system is the best anywhere in the world.

He denied that Taxis Drivers are charged Sixty Thousand (N60,000) for painting each Taxi, stressing that today every Taxi in Owerri is tracked to monitor the activities of both the Drivers and Commuters to reduce crime in the State.

Prince Okaforanyanwu said that soon, there would be enough Taxis to ferry commuters to their destinations promising that the present hardship encountered by commuters is just initial pains to fashion out the best lasting solution to the problem of Transportation in Imo State.

“All these will be a thing of the past soon. We appeal to both Drivers and Commuters to bear with us. It shall come to pass” he assured.
