This weekend’s LGA congress of the All Progressive Congress, APC, will witness another dismal outing for the followers of Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the Imo State Governor, known as the Rescue Mission political group of the ruling party.
Last Saturday saw Okorocha losing grip of the grassroots stronghold as other chieftains of the party that are not part of his group carried the day.
With the LGA congress scheduled for Saturday, the group opposing Okorocha, fondly called the Allied Forces are reported to be making fine arranging to rout the governor again.
Even as Okorocha is said to be making sure the Allied Forces made up of formidable politicians like the Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, Senators Ifeanyi Araraume, Benjamin Uwajumogu, Osita Izunaso, Hope Uzodinma, Chiefs Jude Ejiogu, TOE Ekechi and others do not rattle him again, there are strong indications that the governor may continue to seek for external help to survive the Congress battle after the weekend exercise.
The upper hand, the allied forces secured against Okorocha’s Rescue Missionaries by having their list of ward officials intact after the governor’s failed attempt to cancel the earlier Ward Congresses is said to be the weapon for another assault against the Rescue Mission camp.
Trumpeta learnt that despite running to President Muhammad Buhari in Katsina, the reported criss-crossing of Abuja and Lagos for security chiefs and political warlords to enable him cancel the election, the results which favour the Allied Forces stand.
The governor was also said to have lost the opportunity to upturn the ward Congresses when the window of chance offered by the Congress Appeal Panel offered for a redress complaints could not be utilized. It was learnt that members of the Rescue Mission expected to protest the results were not qualified since they could not buy the party form and contested for any position.
In the same vein, Trumpeta learnt that the same pattern that was used to frustrate Okorocha and his followers will be applied in the LGA Congress of the APC in the 27 councils in the state.
Trumpeta findings disclosed that Okorocha who has raised the alarm that his stance against tenure elongation is responsible for the denial of his members from the Congresses and his followers are at crossroads on how to check Allied Forces on Saturday.
A top source revealed that the governor is banking on the support of President Buhari and a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is his ally in the kick against the tenure elongation, to pull the rug off the feet of his challengers.
It was further revealed that the governor will make use of Security agencies and other instruments of state forces including the marauding political thugs from a section of the state that paraded the state capital during last Saturday’s Congress to battle his challengers.
The Allied forces unrelenting in their quest to send Okorocha to the cleaners for a record second time are not only consolidating their game plan but also determined to give the governor a run for his money this weekend.
Latest information reaching Trumpeta news desk has it that Okorocha having noticed ominous signal against his intent to have firm control of the APC structure in the state is opting for a harmonization arrangement where all the leaders including him shall be captured in the allocation of party positions in future LGA, State, Zonal, National Congresses and convention respectively.
