Coalition for Imo Development (CID) has realled out conditions which political office seekers must meet with, ahead of the 2019 general elections in Imo State.
Speaking in a parley with pen pushers in Owerri, the Director-General of the group Dr John Ugochukwu Ofoegbu said that this has become necessary as a guide to the electorates who had voted ignorantly in the past only to regret their actions at last.
He said that CID as a non-governmental organization has swung into action with the sensitization of the masses on the need to obtain their permanent voters card (PVC), and the need to be fully involved in political activities.
In addition, he disclosed plans by his organization to organize seminars for political office seekers on the need for good governance, rule of law and prudence in governance. Adding that they have also in the area of philanthropy given out wheel chairs to the disabled, Ken for the blind as well as cash gifts to the less privileged.
The pensioners are not left out according to Dr. Ofoegbu who said that they had felicitated and motivated them as well. Pointing out that they have plans to provide health care facilities for the pensioners.
He also said that CID has also provided books and paid school fees for the less privileged students in the state among providing many other social services within the State.
Part of the conditions which CID demanded from political office seekers before getting their support included assurances on, quality education, quality Health system, prompt payment of Civil Servants Salaries, Payment of Pensions and Gratuities, Agricultural Development, quality Rural road construction and Transport system, Job creation and Youth empowerment, Good security network, enabling environment for business, Development of Imo tourism as well as diversification of Imo economy.
