The President and founder, Young Igbo Christian Ministers Congress (YICMIC), Rt. Hon (Prof) Bishop Athan Azubuike has declared that without the organization, Igbos will never produce president ofNigeria.
He revealed this at the weekend during the congress 2012 Togetherness bouquet of the Young Igbo Christian Ministers Congress, Imo state Chapter held at KFC Cafe, Owerri.
Bishop Azubuike stated that Young Igbo Christian Ministers Congress is an organisation established by Igbo Pentecostal ministers with the objective of ensuring that Igbo leaders and politicians stand up for the rights of Ndi Igbo inNigeriaand in Diaspora, adding that the organization is devoid of political interests.
The Bishop enjoined ministers of the gospel not to compromise their offices for monetary gain and materialism but focus on their ministerial assignment for which God has called them.
He claimed that he was the brain behind the emergence of, President Goodluck Jonathan, Imo state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha as well as erstwhile Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim.
On the insinuation in some quarters that he is not in good terms with Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Bishop Azubuike said he bears no grudge against him, but regretted that after he assisted Okorocha to become the Governor of Imo state, he has not been appreciated.
In his welcome address, YICMIC Co-ordinator, Imo state Chapter Rev. Emmanuel Egejuru, commended the ministers who came from far and near for attending the occasion, adding that it was borne out of their love and regard for the growth of YICMIC.
The co-ordinator made it clear that the idea behind the formation of YICMIC was to unite ministers of Igbo extraction all over the world, especially Pentecostal ministers to stand up for their rights as well as Igbo leaders and politicians in Nigeria and in Diaspora.
He however expressed sadness over the maltreatment being meted to Igbos living inCameroun, adding that it was because of lack of unity among Igbos. Egejuru said the organisation has been able to solve lots of conflicts existing among Igbos living inCameroun.
