Following the decision of the members of the Imo APC Stakeholders Forum to initiate Recall Proceedings against House members of the Imo State House of Assembly, Trumpeta can now reveal that the continued stay in office of some of the lawmakers is threatened.
A strong group of members of APC in Imo State under the aegis of Imo APC Stakeholders Forum last weekend met to discuss the state of affairs of the party at the home of the party’s chieftain, Chief Uzoma Obiyo. At the end of the meeting attended by top eggheads in the party, a resolution to initiate recall process against some lawmakers was reached.
According to details of the meeting, the recall of some lawmakers is fuelled by their actions considered to be “inimical to the progress of the state with particular reference to purported endorsement of a particular election in the state which is outside their schedule and rules of engagement”
Trumpeta gathered that top on the list of those their recall process are to be facilitated quickly are Speaker Acho Ihim and his Deputy Ugonna Ozuruigbo. Others are key players in the endorsement saga, like the progenitor and member representing Oguta State Constituency, Henry Ezediaro, those of Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West; Honourables Lugard Osuji, Chukwuemeka Lloyd and Ikonne Onyewuchi respectively.
Also not left out are Nkenna Nzeruo, (Oru East) Arthur Egwim (Ideato North) Kevin Amuka (Ideato South) Ngozi Obiefule (Isu) Uju Onwudiwe (Njaba) Uche Ejiogu (Ihitte/Uboma) Lawman Duruji (Ehime Mbano) Kennedy Ibeh (Obowo) Chinedu Offor (Onuimo) Obinna Egu (Ngor Okpala).
The newspaper was however informed that the major stakeholders would go home to begin the preparations for the procedure of the Recall process.
Apart from the initiation of the Recall process, Trumpeta was also notified that the leaders also has in their agenda program to stop the second term bid of some of the lawmakers seeking a return ticket to the House, as well as those asking for a sojourn in the House of Reps.
It would be recalled that part of the condition for the public endorsement of Chief Uche Nwosu, the preferred choice of Okorocha as successor, members were promised a second term ticket.
Ihim, who is from Okigwe State Constituency is said to be first on the list considering the manner he allowed the first meeting of the endorsement was held at the Speaker’s Lodge in New Owerri. This newspaper was told that because of the Speaker’s desire to upgrade his status from member three citizen of the State to number two in 2019 by pairing Nwosu, Ihim has lost focus of House Leadership by engaging in partisan proclivity to the detriment of the Independence of the legislature.
The Speaker’s posture of “I should with Ugwumba” and consequent attitude suggesting that IMHA was become an extension of Government House, Owerri, warranted the Recall plan.
OZB, as Ugonna is fondly called is also in the dragnet of APC Stakeholders as his role in the Endorsement drama sparked off row leading for the call for his Recall by Nwangele constituents in the Forum.
