That the incumbent Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, who was sighted with Senator Ifeanyi Araraume disembarking from the same Aircraft at Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport days ago, in Owerri has set tongues wagging, as the sitting Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is said to be worried over what sources said he described as latest political romance between his Deputy and Araraume seen as the major hurdle Okorocha has in the All Progressive Congress, APC, Imo State chapter.
Political pundits had suggested that Prince Madumere may have fallen into political love with Araraume to form a solid opposition that would give Okorocha the political fight of his life in Okorocha’s bid to hand his son in-law, Uche Nwosu the Governorship ticket of the party.
Although it has not be confirmed whether Madumere is working with Araraume or not, but what has been proved is that Madumere is poised to participate in APC Governorship primary, and not ready to step down for any Aspirant.
Araraume also is heavily involved in the APC Governorship primaries and therefore not playing second fiddle over his ambition.
Therefore, Okorocha is said to be worried what could be going on between the Deputy Governor and Araraume.
Meanwhile, Prince Madumere is quoted to have said that he is happy that it was Okorocha that betrayed him, by telling the world that he (Madumere) was not competent to be Governor, a statement seen by Madumere as manufactured to deny him the Governorship seat after serving Okorocha loyally for over 23 years.
An Aide to Madumere who spoke to this Newspaper hinted that his Boss cannot for any reason castigate Okorocha, pointing out that it was better that it is Okorocha and his Media team that is attacking the Deputy Governor. “Madumere cannot attack Okorocha. He cannot betray Okorocha as Okorocha betrayed him” the source said.
On the political romance with Araraume, the Madumere Aide said that the Deputy Governor has the right to associate with any leader or person in Imo State, but added that Araraume and Madumere were sighted together at an Airport means nothing.
The source said that Madumere remains a factor in Imo Governorship race and in APC Imo State, stating that Madumere cannot leave APC for any reason, stressing that the Deputy Governor will run for Imo Governorship under APC.
Meanwhile, the Araraume political family told Trumpeta that their principal has the right to associate with persons of like-mind, including the Imo Deputy Governor who was described as a humble, disciplined and educated gentleman.
