A Real Estate Guru and Managing Director of Faith of Darlington Foundation, Chief Darlington Chimezie on Saturday declared his intention to represent the people of Ikeduru State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly under the platform of All Progressive Congress, APC in 2019.
Declaring his intention on Saturday at the APC Akabo Ward Chairman’s house in Umuezeoba, Amii Akabo, Ikeduru Local Government Area, Imo State before APC Ward Executives, APC LGA Executive’s and members of Faith of Darlington Campaign Organization (FADACO) Chimezie said his intention to run for the Assembly seat was born out of his love and desire to give his people a new lease of life and ameliorate their sufferings.
Chief Chimezie who later took his Declaration to his chapter/ booth in Ndiokwu Umuiyi hall Akabo Ikeduru on Sunday assured that as a man who has the utmost interest of his people at heart, he would lobby and use the instruments of lawmaking to attract democracy dividends to his people, with special attention paid to the empowerment of youths and women, as well as other critical infrastructures needed for the good of his people.
The renowned philanthropist and major financier of the party in the area said his quest to run is also predicated on his zeal to attract government attention to his people and be part of building a new Ikeduru council area where hard work and dedication is rewarded, where the people constitute the greatest investment because the true wealth of a nation lies with the people.
According to the young and vibrant Chimezie , “initially I never wanted to dabble into politics because I don’t want people to perceive my kind gesture towards them as biased but was told the best way to attract government attention is to join the assembly race, so after much persuasion by my people and due consultation with family, religious and political leaders i hereby offer myself and my services to my great constituents of Ikeduru as an aspirant for the Imo House Of Assembly.”
“I declare this intention solemnly with an acute awareness of the onerous challenges that lay ahead and powered by our dogged commitment to survive and weather the storms as they may come in acknowledgement that no true path towards growth and development is without an admixture of torns and roses.
Also speaking Arc. Akonye Anselem State Development Coordinator SDC, Akabo ward, said Ikeduru is fortunate to have a great son like Darlington Chimezie, saying he had done a lot for the party.
Arc. Akonye also Secretary of Ikeduru LGA described the day as a remarkable day, even as he assured the party faithful that Chimezie would deliver the dividend of democracy.
His words, “Chimezie is over qualified for the post, I’m overwhelmed that he answered the clarion call to serve his people .Darlington Chimezie had contributed immensely and will not let his people down .Before he came out ,it took him time and we consulted widely.”
Some APC stakeholders, who spoke during the declaration ceremony, included Mr. Cyril Agunannah who disclosed that many things have eluded Ikeduru people in the past due to misrepresentation by past leaders”
He declared his total support for Chimezie, whom he described as a good and pragmatic leader and promised never to disappoint him come 2019 election.
