Political life and robust competition have returned to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Imo State, as the various Governorship Aspirants of the party for the 2019 election carry consultations and sensitization to the nook and cranny of Imo State.
In the last count, Five Aspirants have joined the Governorship race in Imo State. They include Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Sam Daddy), Prof Jude Njoku, Senator Attan Achonu and Hon Tony Nwulu.
The Aspirants are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuance of their ambitions come 2019. All the Aspirants have unleashed different strategies to upset one another, which mostly is hinged on all manners of reach-out to the people.
Leading the pack is Ihedioha whose voluntary organization known as TEAM IHEDIOHA, and Ihedioha Youth Movement have combed the entire twenty seven LGAs of Imo State converting the masses with the Ihedioha gospel.
Sensing that the matter is getting tougher with the entrance of more Aspirants, Ihedioha has instructed his foot-soldiers to double their efforts by criss-crossing the entire State with the Ihedioha persona.
This situation has kept the former Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives on his toes as he strives to out-do his opponents.
Senator Anyanwu whose latest entrance into the race took many by surprise is now busy trying to poach willing Apostles, since most people had already endorsed the earlier entrants before he joined the fray.
Sources told this Newspaper that Anyanwu’s followers are having sleepless nights and are busy with nocturnal movements to penetrate strong holds of other Aspirants.
Trumpeta was informed that Anyanwu’s plan is to first of all “recover” Mbaike zone which is his Catchment Area from other Aspirants who had earlier infiltrated the area before he made his ambition known few weeks ago.
Senator Attan Achonu was sighted by this Newspaper in Orlu recently, where he had a parley with PDP Orlu zone, to intimate members that his Governorship ambition is not a joking matter.
Achonu who banks on Okigwe zone for votes, as he thinks he may be the only Aspirant from the zone, has also sent out his men into Owerri zone to convert more followers for him in the zone.
Last Saturday, Achonu hosted all ward officers from the Twenty Seven LGA, in his Umunumo Village, Ehime Mbano.
Prof Jude Njoku stormed the residence of former Governor, Chief Achike Udenwa in Orlu last week.
The former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Owerri FUTO is said to have informed his followers that he has acquired enough experience now, and therefore playing all cards that will lead him win PDP Governorship ticket in 2019.
As a result Njoku is said to have set up a team that will cover the twenty seven LGAs to convince the PDP members to choose him ahead of others.
Trumpeta learnt that the five Aspirants are concentrating more now on those who may emerge as Delegates for the primaries.
The youthful Tony Nwulu, who is still a House of Representatives member from Lagos State, but of Imo State extraction has been busy with under grounds and on social media canvassing for followers.
This Newspaper learnt that within weeks more Aspirants will join the Imo Governorship race under PDP.
