Owerri People Holds Convention

 

Ahead of 2019 general elections and the clamour for an Owerri zone Governorship, the people of the zone under the aegis of Owerri Peoples Assembly (OPA) has concluded arrangements for a two day Convention in the State.

The Convention which has its theme as “Oke Zuo Iwe Alaa” will begin on Monday April 2, 2018 with a colloquium at the oxygen Holiday Resort, New Owerri with erudite Professor Steve Nwokocha delivering a lecture on “Owerri Unity in Diversity”.

This will be followed by another paper at the same venue and date by Dr. Joe Eto, President World Igbo Congress and President Owerri Peoples Assembly, USA on the topic, “Empowering Youths through the Establishment of Cottage Industries in all LGAs in Owerri”. And the Chairman of the colloquium is Dr Leo Stan Ekeh.

According to the programme of events, the Keynote Speaker at the Convention proper on Tuesday April 3, at the Kanu Nwankwo Center, Owerri will be Mr Aham Ejelam (SAN) with Chief Ambrose Ejiogu and Dr Mike Okiro as Chairman and Co-Chairman. While the Special Guest of honour will be Chief Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, the Executive Governor of Ondo State.

Patrons of the day are Dr Paschal Dozie and (Rtd) Air Commodore Luke Ochulor with Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as grand patron and father of the day.

Trumpeta Newspaper gathered that the Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee is Chief Sam Obaji who has received great encomiums for his efforts to put together the gathering, to perfect the Owerri agenda.

Chief Obaji who has bagged recently the Owerri Unity Ambassador award we reliably gathered has tirelessly worked hard to unite Owerri zone in this regard in synergy with Orlu People’s Assembly. The gathering we are informed will be attended by who is who in the politics of Owerri zone, captains of Industries, the clergy and politicians.
