The tacit adoption by the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, of Chief Uche Nwosu, his Chief of Staff and son-inlaw, for the 2019 Imo Governorship Seat has attracted attack from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Imo State.
Addressing Journalists at the party’s State office in Owerri, the Publicity Secretary of Imo PDP, Hon Chief Damian Opara described the adoption of Uche Nwosu by Okorocha as a slap on the face of Imo people, and said the act by Okorocha is an aberration.
The PDP Spokesman maintained that much as PDP is not afraid of All Progressive Congress APC and the candidate it is presenting in the 2019 election, Imo PDP is worried how Okorocha would present the husband to his daughter to succeed him in office just after spending Eight years in office.
Imo PDP warned Okorocha to realize that Imo State is not his Rochas Foundation or family company where he can put whoever he wants to head the Foundation since that one is his private businesses.
“Imo State belongs to all Imo people and not Rochas Foundation where Okorocha has the prerogative to put whoever he wants as the head the NGO” Damain Opara said.
The party disclosed that Okorocha’s penchant at appointing only his relatives into offices smacks of insult on the collective intelligence of all Imo people, adding that Okorocha must be stopped from planting his son inlaw as his successor in 2019.
PDP said that allowing Okorocha to hoist Nwosu on Imo people in 2019 means that there are no other persons with qualities to Governor Imo State except from Okorocha’s family.
The party wondered if it was only Okorocha’s family that voted him into office, pointing out Okorocha has not given Imo State any special thing in terms of Leadership to warrant him produce a successor much more his son in-law.
Imo PDP said that since 2011 Okorocha came to power, it is only his family that has benefited from his administration, as other Imolites have been thrown into poverty through Okorocha’s policies that have destroyed Imo Economy.
“What has Okorocha done for Imo people than destruction of Markets? Has he held elections in the LGAs that would have brought development to the people? The only beneficiaries of his Government are members of his family he gave mouth-watering appointments, and contracts, with the rest he sent to Abuja for Ministerial positions and Board appointments” Imo PDP said.
