Earning Chieftaincy titles and bearing chieftaincy names is no trouble to anyone but that cannot be said to be true of the Secretary to the Imo State Government, SGI, George Eche.
Eche is about to earn rough challenges from colleagues in the Rescue Mission government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha, especially, from the camp of the Chief of Staff, Chief Uche Nwosu, over his latest title of Ugwumba.
Though, there has not been an open confrontation or visible antagonisms against him, but Trumpeta can reveal that the title of Ugwumba, Eche, bears has pitched him against allies of Nwosu resulting to another round of friction in the Okorocha political family.
Before now, Nwosu, among Rescue Missionaries, is identified with the Ugwumba name as a Chieftaincy title bestowed on him, leading to the formation of various brands of political groups like Ugwumba Movement, Ugwumba Vanguards and Ugwumba Women, sympathetic to the political ambition of the Chief of Staff to the governor.
Considering the enormous political groundwork done with the name of Nwosu, Trumpeta gathered that the Ugwumba title of Eche has been received with envy by majority of Okorocha supporters who are allies of his Chief of Staff.
The development is threatening the position of Eche after disturbing remarks were made about his Ugwumba title thereby forcing him to tactically withdraw usage in public domain. This newspaper reliably gathered that the Ugwumba title of Eche, apart from an indirect means of trying to benefit from Nwosu’s socio-political structures is being misconstrue as a challenge to the CoS.
Further to this, there are fears that a boopy trap has been set for the SGI to fall into and get removed any moment from now as a means to cut him into size over alleged attempt to seek same rank with Nwosu.
Trumpeta learnt that despite his Chief of Staff position, the influence of Nwosu is enormous in Government House circle because of his son-in- law to the governor status.
It was gathered that but for the intervention of Okorocha who it was suspected does not want to raise another uproar over removal of SGI after Chief Jude Ejiogu was removed, Eche would have been a goner for daring to bear the Ugwumba title.
Latest development in Government House, Owerri, has it that for the Ugwumba name, Eche is pretty sitting on a keg of gunpowder. Those opposed to Eche wondered why he chose not to use the Ugwumba title when he was newly appointed until now a football competition he sponsored was named Ugwumba Eche Unity Cup.
