The people of Isu Local Government Area of the state have been thrown into wide jubilation following the declaration of Engr. Uju Okoro to represent them in the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA).
Engr. Okoro, a former Transition Committee Chairman declared to run on Friday, 2nd, February 2018 during an APC stakeholders meeting in his Amurie Omanze Ward, Isu LGA.
According to him, the decision to represent his people in the Imo House of Assembly in 2019 was as a result of the failure of past individuals who were elected to represent the LGA to attract quality development to the area but fair woefully, regretting that if they had done half of what their colleagues did in their respective constituencies, Isu would be counted among the best developed LGAs in the state.
Engr. Okoro, who was said to have won the 2011 House of Assembly seat election for the LGA, but was robbed off by some political gangsters, is hell bent in ensuring that his Amurie political block clinges the position in 2019.
Speaking, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Amurie Omanze Ward 1, Hon. Sabinus Nwoha commended the boldness of Engr. Okoro to run for the seat, saying that since the party believes in equity and fair play, there was need to allow a candidate from Amurie political block to be elected into the position since the old five political blocks of Amandugba, Isunjaba, Ekwe and Umundugba in Isu LGA have taken their turns.
In their separate contributions, APC Youth Leader, Amurie Omanze, Hon. Obioma Osunwa and other members of the party executive expressed happiness that Engr. Okoro’s declaration would send signal to other aspirants whose political blocks had taken their turns to withdraw to pave way for his easy emergence in 2019.
According to them, Engr. Okoro is an illustrious son of not only in Amurie Omanze but the entire LGA, and recalled his achievements during the time he held sway as TC Chairman of Isu Local Government Area, while appealing to members of the party across all the Wards in the LGA to see reasons to support their son whom they described as eminently qualified for the position.
