Every day seems to be unfolding with latest permutations, within the political family of the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha as developments churn out newest options.

This Newspaper can reliably inform that the Okorocha’s political structure, known as “Rescue Mission” has been thrown into a new confusion, following the interest of Hon Emeka Nwajiuba to run for the Obowo/Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma Federal Constituency seat come 2019.

The latest Nwajiuba ambition is causing ripples as two strong political forces within the All Progressive Congress APC clash in Imo.

Nwajiuba who was a former member of the House of Representatives and now occupies a juicy post under the present APC administration at the National level, is seen as President Mohammadu Buhari’s political son.

Therefore, his ambition to return to the National Assembly has upset political calculations in the Federal Constituency, since Nwajiuba is not one of the Rescue “Missionaries” and therefore not from the Okorocha political family.

Unfortunately for the Okorocha camp, Nwajiuba is untouchable and therefore cannot be denied his wish, as that could be seen as confronting Buhari.

Under this circumstance, Nwajiuba may end up picking up the Ehime Mbano/Obowo/Ihitte Uboma APC ticket without a fight.

But ironically and quite unfortunate, the incumbent lawmaker occupying the seat, Hon Chike Okafor is doing well, and is one of the best legislators from the Southeast, even though it is his first outing.

Chike Okafor had been tipped to have a smooth ride right from the primary level to the main election, but the Nwajiuba ambition is now trying the cause a problem that would be difficult to settle.

Pundits believe that Okafor have done well and deserves a second term on a platter of Gold, until Nwajiuba now appeared on the scene.

However, much as Okafor has made himself and his constituency proud, his second term now hangs in the balance, as his political mentor, Chief Rochas Okorocha does not want to confront Nwajiuba, but not because of the former lawmaker himself, but because of the forces propelling Nwajiuba to run.

Under this situation, the Okorocha’s Rescue Mission is confused on how to handle the Nwajiuba/Okafor saga, much more when it is rumoured that should Nwajiuba scale the election hurdle, he may pick up the Speakership position, due to the powerful camp that is backing him.

The question now is, would Okorocha allow one of his bests to be sacrifices at the detriment his of political family, Rescue Mission?

Sources said that the only way out is for Nwajiuba to withdraw from the race and join the Okigwe Senatorial contest, which close sources to the fair complexioned politician say he is not interested in.
