The political voyage of the Senator Hope Uzodinma faction of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Imo State Chapter is said not to be over, as the group is yet to anchor a peg in any political party.
According to information available to TRUMPETA, the Senator Hope Uzodinma Group is now engaged in a serious discussion with the Labour Party.
A top member of the Group confided in Trumpeta that soon, the parley with the Imo Labour Party hierarchy will be over, and their discussion would be made public with a tumultuous rally where the Group will formally move into Labour Party.
Before this latest development, this Newspaper learnt that the Uzodinma people had met with the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, which could not produce any result.
It was learnt that the APGA option collapsed when suddenly, Heavy weight politicians started trooping into the APGA fold.
A source also said that the condition given by the Uzodinma Group was not acceptable by the APGA top shots, hence the collapse of the discussion.
Therefore, the now restless Group moved on to All Progressive Congress, APC, which felt uncomfortable with the Uzodinma crowd, as APC members were intimidated and afraid to lose their positions to the new Brides.
Not only that, Trumpeta learnt that the Imo APC Leader, and Governor of Imo State was afraid that he may slug out the Orlu Senatorial ticket with Uzodinma, and therefore engineered his men to reject Uzodinma camp’s overtures.
Sources said that Okorocha is running for the Orlu Senatorial seat in 2019, but is keeping it to his chest, because if he makes it open now, and yet is planning to hoist his son inlaw, Chief Uche Nwosu as Governor, Imo people will say he is asking for much. Hence his current silence on his future in 2019.
However, Ikenga Ukaegbu, the Sole Financier of Imo Labour Party till now, is said to have been apprehensive of the Hope Uzodinma persona, and therefore afraid that his grip on Imo Labour Party would be counted in days, should Uzodinma and followers enter APC.
However, it would be recalled that Senator Hope Uzodinma was leading a faction of Imo PDP over the battle of the State Chairmanship position between Chief Charles Ezekwem, supported by Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, and Bar Nnamdi Anyaehie, backed by Uzodinma.
After long battles that spanned across all the courts in the land, until it ended at the Supreme, the Ihedioha Group won.
Since then, the Hope Uzodinma Group has been touring all the political parties seeking where to lay their anchor, with the fear that Emeka Ihedioha has “kidnapped” Imo PDP soul, with its structure now under his firm control, and therefore any further stay in the party by the Group may spell doom for their political careers, hence the political “tourism” of the Group, until they find a final abode.
