Information reaching us indicate that Chief Okey Ikoro (Osunmanu), the strong man of Ararume Campaign Team, one of the leading Industrialists in the state, a gentle man and a former President of Owerri Chamber of Commerce Mines, Industry and Agriculture, an astute Politician, loved by his people, has quit Ararume Destiny Campaign Organization.
Ikoro who was a close associate of the Senator during his 2015 Guber Campaign and defected to APC with him after PDP robbed them of their victory in the primary was not available for immediate confirmation of this.
However, when contacted on the telephone, Chief Okey Ikoro confirmed this and when asked why he chose to leave his friend at this time, he declined to answer saying, his reason was personal and that it was a story for another day.
When asked whether he was quitting politics, he said that no sane person would say that he has quit politics, adding that it was only because good people shy away from politics that unqualified people take the political wheel and make decisions for the sane ones.
When asked if he has any political ambition, he replied that only time would tell. Also, that political ambition was what every right thinking man should have. That it could be either elective or by appointment as far as it was a call for service and not for looting. He added that he could serve in any capacity as long as it was service to our people. “We must get Imo right this time because a lot of damage has been done to the State”, he said.
Chief Ikoro said that for now he was taking a break to restrategise and take decision on what to do about the state of affairs in the state and its politics.
He assured us that his family and personal relationship with the Senator was completely intact and cordial, only that politically he wanted to take a break.
