The cardinal point for floating the socio-political organization called IMOZURUGWUO is to serve as a watchdog over whoever would be produced as the Governor of Imo State at all times so as to monitor the fellow and guide him or her on how to deliver the goods to the Imo masses.
This was made known to media men in Imo State by the President of the organization, Barr George Eke while speaking at Concorde Hotel Owerri over the weekend.
“It was provoked because of bad Governance. Because there is no responsible Group to report to by those who take charge of Imo people they do whatever they like. In other States there are such organizations to checkmate the excesses of the Governor of their States and others in power” Eke said.
The President who hails from Ngor Okpala LGA, and was a Governorship Aspirant in 2007 in Imo State, maintained that IMOZURUGWUO is made up of respected personalities across the three zones of Imo State, comprising of Professionals from various fields and therefore an elite Group that cannot be controlled by any individual or Group.
Bar Eke disclosed that the organization is populated with members of all political parties of Imo extractions, with the sole goal of providing Good Governance for Imo State.
He said that in order not to tilt the organogram of IMOZURUGWUO to any particular zone in Imo State, the positions in the Body are distributed equitably among Okigwe, Orlu and Owerri political zones.
The President said that IMOZURUGWUO is a grassrooted socio-political Body that covers the entire nook and cranny of Imo State, from the Villages, to Wards, LGAs and the State level, with officials over-seeing the affairs of the organization.
Eke who recently assumed the leadership of the organization promised to give his best by making sure that IMOZURUGWUO makes a good impact in producing the next Governor of Imo State, as a pressure Group as well as a guiding spirit in checkmating the personal interest of whoever is the Governor over the general interest of Imo masses.
“We will produce the next Governor. We deliver whoever is the next Governor so that we can guide the person. Imo needs good Governance to develop its potentials” George Eke told Journalists.
