To politicians and few Imolites who may be having doubts in the next political outing as about the chances of Imo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party led by Sir Bar Nnamdi Anyaehie, a re-assurance from Ideato Nation (North and South) speaks of the possibility that PDP may clinch power from the APC come 2019.
Suffice it to say that PDP stalwarts in Ideato Nation are not leaving any stone unturned as they have united for the actualization of the set goal.
It has been the dream of Imo PDP to wrestle power from Okorocha’s APC led administration, but lack of unity and internal crisis could be said to be a cankerworm.
However, in a bid to getting the party fully repositioned in Imo, Chieftains of PDP from Ideato North and South converged at the residence of Chief Jude Duruoma, known as “Mmiri Motors” last Saturday, November 11, 2017 to chat the way forward.
Trumpeta reliably gathered that the convergence of these political titans kept Isiokpo city in Ideato North busy as leaders and stakeholders disengaged selves for the all inclusive gathering.
The meeting which was convened by the Anyaehie led State Auditor and the party’s Assistant Secretary, Hon Ikechukwu Sunday Umeh and Chief Austin Nnabuihe respectively witnessed a massive turn out of crème de la crème of Ideato Nation extraction.
In his opening remarks, the chairman of the meeting and Council Chairman of Ideato South, Hon Kelvin Nwanaforo submitted that the aim of the meeting was to chat the way forward for the unity of the Nation as well as proffer solutions to the progress of Imo PDP down to the grassroots.
While thanking God for the gift of life showered on Ideato sons and daughters, he also acknowledged the laudable turn out and possible ways of absolving the citizens from the untold hardship subjected on them by the APC led government.
They described their brother (Okorocha’s) pattern of administration as a rough peg on a square hole which has brought undue hardship to Imo populace, saying that PDP is repositioned to fight such bad government in 2019.
Meanwhile, the meeting was heralded by the elevation of Chief Sir Jude Duruoma as the leader of leaders in Ideato Nation.
Before then, an Ideato South Apex Leader, Chief Humphery Ikeaka moved the motion which was seconded by the Apex leader of Ideato North, Chief Sir Ifeanyi Okafor.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Duruoma thanked his kinsmen for finding him worthy of the position amongst other notable personalities. He promised to always be transparent as a leader and will not relent in promoting the affairs of PDP.
Similarly, they resolved to support the leadership of the ranking Senator representing Imo West (Orlu zone) in the Senate, Senator Hope Uzodinma for distinguishing himself as the best Senator of the year 2017 by the Nigerian Union of Journalists. Prior to that, they assured him of their unalloyed support to any political position he deem fit in 2019.
However, the leaders also retorted that they will fight imposition of candidates of any sort in the next political outing, especially for Ideato Federal seat.
Furthermore, there was free will donations by like minds for the simultaneous running of the affairs of the party.
Other dignitaries present were; His Worship, Grace Ukeje, Mrs Josephine Nnoham, Chief Boniface Ohiri, Barr Mbakwe Obi, Chief Nwaikenta, Chief Ifeanyi Okpara, Chief Ekejiuba and Chief John Obika (Decampees from APC and APGA respectively), Bar. Mrs Aladum among others.
