It was a gathering of who is who in the society, as the Kpakpando Foundation for
persons with Disability; penultimate Monday October 30, 2017 celebrated her 12n year anniversary at the International Conference Centre Abuja. The event which attracted creme-da-la creme in the country started with an opening prayer by the catholic bishop of Abuja Diocese, Cardinal John Onaiyekan.
Addressing guests and participants at the event, the Chairman of the occasion and Ondo State Governor, His Excellency Rotimi Akeredolu said that most often, speeches are made for the physically challenged and usually not backed with action. He stated that the country needs the disabled to move forward, but regretted that it is difficult to remember people in need, except for those that has a milk of human kindness like Senator Izunaso. The Ondo State Governor opined that as people age, there is progressive decline, adding that those are features and attributes of expected disabilities.
He commended Senator Izunaso for using his God-given resources to assist the disables in having a taste of life.
Lending his voice, Nassarawa State Governor, Alhaji Tanko Alamakura, noted that Senator Izunaso is caring and has always encouraged persons with disabilities, stressing that he commemorates his birthday by celebrating with persons with disability.
He however frowned at the discrimination melted on persons with disabilities, stressing that every normal person is a potential disable. He added that when people recognize that, they will treat them with care. He urged well meaning individuals to emulate Izunaso’s gesture.
Contributing, Bauchi State Governor, Abubakar Mohammed, thanked Senator Izunaso for repeatedly giving succor to the physically challenged, disclosing that the Deputy Chief of Staff, Bauchi Government House is a disable.
Collaborating, Plateau State Governor, Bako Simon Lalong, appreciated the efforts of Kpakpando foundation for giving hope to the physically challenged in the country, adding that the sky is their limit. He informed that Plateau State has the Disability Rights Commission and urged other states to do same.
Also speaking, Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha lauded Izunaso for his generosity and love for the physically challenged, disclosing that charity wipes away sin.
The event witnessed the first ever face of Kpakpando beauty pageant, while the founder of the foundation distinguished Senator Osita Izunaso spoiled the disabled with assorted gift items and cash. He however advocated for 25% inclusiveness for the physically challenged in the country. The National chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Chief John Oyegun poured encomiums on Izunaso for bringing succor to the disabled. The list of dignitaries’ presents at the event was endless.
