As the warring factions in the Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, battle for the soul of the party, the faction controlled by Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie has reacted sharply to a news item carried by this newspaper indicating that the Senator Representing Orlu zone in the National Assembly, Senator Hope Uzodinma is shunning the Disciplinary Committee.
Trumpeta had in Tuesday’s edition, alleged that Uzodinma was unable to appear before the Chief Tom Ikimi led Disciplinary Committee to clear himself of accusation leveled against him by the Charles Ezekwem group.
Reacting over the matter, the state publicity secretary of the Anyaehie group, Barr Enyinnaya Onuegbu disclosed that the report is not only a falsehood but also an incorrect report as it is in contrast to PDP constitution “By virtue of section 57 (7) of the constitution of the party, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma as a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and ranking member of the National Assembly is not subject to any disciplinary proceedings by any disciplinary committee”.
The statement from Onuegbu who claims that his faction is the recognized state PDP Exco further adds that the “state chairman, Sir Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie has not instituted any civil action against the PDP at the High Court, Orlu or any other court for that matter in Imo State or elsewhere. It is false and unimaginable for him or the Distinguished Senator to be expecting a procured injunction from Orlu High Court.
According to the state publicity secretary, his faction led by Anyaehie remains the authentic state Exco of the Imo State chapter of the PDP, by adding that “we must repeat for the umpteenth time that the matter of the legitimate state Executive of PDP, Imo State chapter is not for the national caretaker committee to confer as it pleases it since the status quo remains the subsistence of the Sir Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie led state Executive that was elected and ratified by the 71st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in 18th May, 2016 of our great party under the leadership of Ali Modu Sherrif’s administration for which Barr Charles Ezekwem and his cohorts filed a legal challenge in suit No: How/151/2017, which is still pending in court”.
