A middle aged man named Orjika Emma C.K who hails from Oguta Local Government Area Imo State almost committed suicide Wednesday morning in front of Imo government house entrance gate Owerri.
Orjika Emma was carrying with Nigerian Flag and placards with different write ups. Some of the write-ups said “Governor Rochas Okorocha please pay me my N900,000 contract money that your government is owing me”.
“My children are now out of school because of money”. The aggrieved Orjika was stopped in front of the gate by the Chief Security officer to the Governor in his attempt to move right inside the government House to register his grievances to the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha who he said has refused to fulfill his promises. He said he wanted the attention of the Governor and insisted he would see him or commit suicide right at the Government House.
At this point more security personnel came out to resist him and he eventually threatened to kill himself. He cried with a loud voice and attracted sympathy from people.
Some of the sympathizers raised eyebrows on the man’s situation as they condemned in strong terms the inability of the governor to pay the man for the whatever contract he executed for the State Government.
In one of the letters he submitted to the governor which was made available to Trumpeta, Orjika appealed to Imo government to pay him the balance of N900,000 owed him by Oguta Local Government Area.
In the letter dated 18/9/ 2017 he explained that he was contracted by Oguta LGA to supply twenty copies of exercise book via L.P.O No. 002052 each of the note book cost N55,000.
He also stated that he travelled from Lagos to Owerri thirty nine times in the quest to get the money coupled with other financial expenditures.
In addition he hinted that he is now jobless after completing the government job at Oguta LGA. He therefore begs the Governor to come to his rescue before he commits suicide.
